Our foremost commitment is to help our beneficiaries overcome poverty and heal from trauma, recognizing that true and lasting development can only grow from a foundation of restored dignity and hopeThe story of the MBWIRANDUMVA Initiative is a reminder that even a single act of compassion can change lives. After the genocide in Rwanda, the organization became a “place where people listen,” supporting women and girls who had experienced violence and loss, helping them restore their dignity and find inner strength. No one here is indifferent — every story of pain is transformed into a path to healing and new opportunities.
In addition to psychological and social support, many people’s lives are filled with small joys that help them distract themselves from painful memories. For some, it is creativity or sports, and for others, it is gambling, which can be a way to relieve tension. Among such hobbies are virtual games, including platforms where it is important to choose high-quality and reliable services. For example, the review at
moyens.nethelps to understand which online casinos in Austria received positive ratings in 2023 and how they earned the trust of users.
And although MBWIRANDUMVA’s activities are focused on helping and restoring lives, the idea of finding reliable places where you can feel safe is relevant in any field. Whether it’s a house built for a widow or an online platform chosen for leisure, it is important that a person can feel calm, confident, and supported on the path to a better life.
MBWIRANDUMVA BACKGROUND
MBWIRANDUMVA INITIATIVE means in English ʺSPEAK I’M LISTENING”, this association was created in 1996 with the aim to assist genocide survivors, widows and orphans, with their psychosocial needs. It started with an encounter that the founder Mrs. Beatrice Karamaga had with a young mother and genocide survivor who wanted to abandon her child with Beatrice as she became pregnant after having being raped by the INTERAHAMWE militia. The child was a constant reminder of her humiliation and she was unable to raise the child since she was poor. This encounter convinced Beatrice that she had to take action to help her and other women with similar problems.
Trauma Counseling and Psychosocial Support
Our counseling approach integrates reformulation, transformation, and renewal to help individuals process traumatic experiences and regain emotional balance. Through guided dialogue and structured interventions, we support our beneficiaries in confronting distress, reframing harmful patterns, and fostering resilience.
Income-Generating Activities (IGAs)
We support beneficiaries to create and grow small businesses that generate stable income. Our IGA programs combine entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and access to productive resources such as sewing machines or start-up kits. This not only strengthens household livelihoods but also promotes financial independence, reducing dependency on external aid.
Vocational Skills Training
We deliver hands-on training in market-relevant trades such as tailoring, hairdressing, and handicrafts through our accredited MBWIRANDUMVA TVET Centre. In line with Rwanda’s vision of expanding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), we equip trainees with industry-standard skills, link them to industrial attachments, and prepare them for employment or self-employment.
